The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to analyze the Central Bank of the United States, the Federal Reserve Bank, to define its role during two serious crises and to research changes occurred to FED's incomes. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter is dedicated to three entities which Federal Reserve consists of, the second one obtains the historical information about the reasons of its foundation and chronological chain of events preceding it. The Great Depression, The Great Recession and the actions of the FRS that were undertaken during these periods are described in the third chapter. After the recent crisis that occurred in 2008 the structure and amount of FED's incomes changed a lot. I devoted the fourth chapter of this bachelor thesis to the analysis of reasons of these changes and its consequences.
Selected problems in the U.S. financial market in the context of the financial crisis

This thesis concerned with certain problems in the U.S. financial market during the financial crisis. In the theoretical part of this thesis, I deal with the formation of U.S. banking and regulation and supervision until its present form. In this part of the work are described in detail circumstances that lead to foundation of the Federal Reserve system, and also the origins of Great Depression. The practical part is focused on the analysis of the causes of the global financial crisis. Especially the U.S. real estate market, asset securitization and credit rating agencies. In the final part of this work are described in detail the measures taken by the U.S. government in the form of law "Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act".
The management of banking system liquidity during financial crisis

The goal of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of the liquidity management of banking system by central banks with emphasis on the Federal Reserve System (Fed) and the European Central Bank (ECB). The first chapter deals with standard approach to the management of liquidity in the pre-crisis period. Two next chapters focuse on unconventional measures introduced by Fed and ECB in connection with the financial turmoil from 2007 to 2009, including causes that led to these measures. The conclusion is devoted to the comparison and the evaluation of the steps taken.
